The techniques you will learn in this Sports Massage workshop can help all of your clients, whether they are athletes or not. Most of the workshop is hands on, so you will learn many techniques that you can add to your toolbox. We start with theory, explaining the physiological principles that are the basis for the techniques. These principles include reciprocal inhibition, post-isometric relaxation, and strain-counterstrain. We then go to hands on work, where you will learn specific techniques for muscle cramps, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation PNF stretching and facilitated stretching, soft tissue release techniques, and also a painless way of releasing trigger points using strain counterstrain techniques. We will cover injury evaluation and treatment, and show treatment strategies for sprains and strains and for many common sports injuries. Pre-event and post-event massage will also be covered. Please wear athletic attire for this workshop.

Therapeutic Grade Essential oils bring harmony into our lives through their chemistry, frequency, and intention. They have been revered for centuries for their restorative properties to body, mind and spirit. Now more than ever before there is a conscious choice being made to explore means other than drugs to restore and maintain optimal health. Aromatherapy is becoming mainstream and is much more than just ‘smelling good’. Containing the true essence of the plants they are derived from, essential oils are highly concentrated and far more potent than dried herbs. They can be used in many different ways: The English model advocates massage. The French model includes both ingestion and undiluted topical application. The German model focuses on inhalation.
In this workshop, experience a combination of all three models to help yourself, your clients and loved ones (including children and pets) improve their health and wellness. You will make products to take home and more importantly, you will see how essential oils can help us live longer, healthier, and happier lives.

Provide an environment of SAFETY and COMFORT and HOLDING for the client. The parasympathetic nervous system which allows relaxation needs as much support as possible to achieve relaxation. INVITE relaxation do not force change. Relaxation and relief of pain for the client may occur over a period of time not all in one session. Educate the client about the body REACTING to trauma and the natural RESPONSE ability of the nervous system to relearn how to relax. Educate about first and secondary pain and tension in the muscles. Shiatsu is one of the most portable forms of bodywork! The techniques taught can be adapted to working with a client on a table, floor and sitting in a chair. Shiatsu is a Japanese form of bodywork designed to promote health by influencing and improving the state of ‘Ki’ or ‘life energy’ in the body. This table Shiatsu class will focus on learning some basic theoretical knowledge of the body through the eyes and hands of a Shiatsu practitioner. As well as learning new ways to address sore or painful muscles and joints and release stress in the body, we will learn about the many points and meridians on the front and back of the body. The practitioner will learn how the application of gentle relaxed, rhythmical pressure along the meridians and on specific points allows the body to become energized or relaxed to bring the client’s body into balance. The application of Shiatsu can also be a relaxing or energizing experience for the practitioner!
